Day by Day Itinerary:

Day 1: May 8: Fly from the US to Rome.

Day 2: May 9: Rome
Rome can not be done in a day as the ship is trying to do. We will spend 2 days touring Rome. Today we will take a city tour.  We will also visit the Pantheon and the famous Trevi Fountain.  Overnight Rome.

Day 3: May 10: Rome
Today we start our second day of touring of Rome. We will visit the Vatican Museum, the Sistine Chapel and the world’s largest church, St. Peters Basilica.  In the afternoon we visit the Coliseum and the Forum. Overnight Rome. 

Day 4: May 11:  Pompeii – Naples – Rome
This morning we will drive the 2 hours to Pompeii, a city completely covered in ash when Mt. Vesuvius erupted in 20 AD, leaving behind artifacts and structures in near perfect condition. We will then return to Rome and finish any sights not visited.  Overnight Rome.

Day 5: May 12: Pisa - Florence
This morning we will travel to the Tuscany Countryside visiting small ancient villages along with Pisa and its leaning tower.  We will overnight in Florence. 

Day 6: May 13: Florence
We will have a full day to enjoy Florence and all that it has to offer. We will spend the day visiting the center of the Renaissance, whose liberating ideas helped pave the way for the reformation. This city is the home to the Medici family, Michelangelo, Leonardo de Vinci and Dante. We will take a guided tour of the old city, visiting such sites as the Piazza del Duomo, including the beautiful Baptistery Doors that inspired Michelangelo. We will also visit the original statue of David in the Academy Museum. You will have time to shop in the old streets of Florence and also time to enjoy the many sidewalk cafes before returning to our hotel this evening.

Day 7: May 14: Ravenna – Verona
This morning we will travel to Ravenna, a World Heritage Site. Here they have some of the best ancient mosaic floors and walls found anywhere in the world. We will then travel to Verona to overnight. 

Day 8: May 15: Verona – Venice - Ship
This morning we will tour the ancient city of Verona, home of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. This is one of the most picturesque old cities in Europe. After a tour of the old town, you will have time to explore and have lunch at one of the many sidewalk cafes.  We will then take our 1 hour drive to the ship in Venice and our special cruise.  You will arrive early enough to explore your ship before we depart late this afternoon for the Mediterranean.

Day 9: May 16: Ship - Dubrovnik Croatia
This is one of the best walled cities in Europe.  You will have plenty of time to visit and explore the old city and climb the city wall. 

Day 10: May 17: Ship – Fun Day at Sea
Today is a fun day at sea.  Time to relax and enjoy the ship. 

Day 11: May 18: Ship – Ephesus Turkey
Our optional discounted shore excursion will include a full day tour to the ancient ruins of Ephesus. These are some of the best ruins in the world and should not be missed.

Day 12: May 19: Ship – Santorini Greece
Today will be one of the highlights of your tour as you visit the most beautiful island in the Greek Isles which was created by a volcanoe.  This is a great place to get off the cruise ship and explore on your own.  It is easy to get around and experience this wonderful place.

Day 13: May 20: Ship – Corfu Greece 
Corfu, a Greek Island filled with trees and greenery, restaurants and shops of every kind.  Our optional tour will take you to the village of Gastouri. Here you will visit Achillion, the mansion built by the Empress Elisabeth of Austria and later owned by Kaiser Wilhelm II. The tour will continue to Kanoni. At this site you will see the old cannon from which the name Kanoni derives. You will return to the town via a different route, and there you can enjoy a lovely walk through the narrow, balconied streets of the old district on the way to the beautiful church of St. Spiridon before returning to the ship.

Day 14:  May 21: Ship – Fun Day at Sea
Today is a fun day at sea.  Time to relax and enjoy the ship. 

Day 15: May 22: Venice
After departing the ship we will travel into Venice. In addition to our tour in Venice you will have plenty of time to walk the many old streets and bridges. You will also have time to take a gondola boat ride and enjoy the many sidewalk cafes.  This evening we will return to our hotel in Venice to overnight. 

Day 16: May 23: Fly Home – we transfer back to the airport for your return flight home.
